Roeder Lab Statement of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity
We acknowledge that racism and systemic prejudice are real problems that affect academics personally and have lasting impacts on the careers of scientists that hold certain minority identities. We are working to understand and counteract our own contributions to these problems and become anti-racists.
As members of the lab, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of respect for each other. Any discriminatory or prejudiced behavior based on race, gender identity, country of origin, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other identities lab members may choose to disclose or hold in confidence will not be tolerated. We pledge to use our varying levels of privilege and access to uplift and enable each others’ career goals. Lab members are further encouraged to work together or individually to partake in outreach and mentorship activities that work towards recruiting and retaining diverse future scientists (see below resources for more).
The best answers to some of the biggest questions in science and in life arise when diverse voices are brought together. We commit to honoring this finding by forging a work culture that each day strives for greater diversity, inclusivity and equity.

- Adrienne Roeder and collaborators Arezki Boudaoud, Richard Smith and Chin Biu Li were awarded a 3-year grant from the Human Frontiers in Science Program for the study “From stochastic cell behavior to reproducible shapes: the coordination behind morphogenesis.” Work on the study will begin September 1, 2013.
- Effective January 15, 2013, Adrienne Roeder was awarded a 3-year grant from NSF’s Division of Integrative Organismal Systems to study the “Feedback of cell cycle on cell type in Arabidopsis organogenesis.”
